Guelph Chamber Choir presents a performance of Handel”™s Messiah two nights before Christmas

The Guelph Chamber Choir invites the community to its annual performance of Handel’s Messiah on Dec. 23 at 7:30pm featuring Musica Viva Orchestra with spirited musicians playing on period instruments and four Canadian soloists.

Handel’s Messiah has become a treasured Christmas tradition for many in the English-speaking world.

“As I approach my last performance of Messiah with the Guelph Chamber Choir, I am grateful for the many times that we have been privileged to perform a work of such artistry and beauty together with world-class soloists and musicians,” said conductor Gerald Neufeld.

“Each year, we work to approach this masterpiece with renewed insights, allowing the beauty and brilliance of the music to declaim the familiar story.”

The new Christmas recording, Carols of the Bells, featuring the Guelph Chamber Choir and Bells Ablaze, will be available for $20 to take home and to give to friends and relatives as great last-minute gifts.

On Dec. 22 there will be a sing-along Messiah at 7:30pm at St. George’s Anglican Church.

A suggested donation of $20 in support of Family and Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County will provide essential support to young adults aging out of the foster program.

Single tickets for the performance of Handel’s Messiah on Dec. 23 at 7:30pm at the River Run Centre are now available for $40 each or four for $140.

Students and those 30 and under can buy tickets for $10. For youth 14 and under tickets are $5 or with eyeGO (high school picture ID required).
