The Guelph Chamber Choir presents Handel’s Messiah with a baroque orchestra and four Canadian soloists at the River Run Centre on Dec. 19 at 7:30pm.
Four professional Canadian soloists join the choir and a select ensemble of baroque instrumental specialists. All are making return appearances with the choir.
Soprano Meredith Hall delights audiences internationally. At home in opera and oratorio, she is especially in demand for baroque and classical works.
Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Enns Modolo has delighted audiences across the country with her clear, unaffected voice and meaningful singing. An accomplished concert soloist, she has performed with numerous groups throughout Ontario and across Canada including the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the Elmer Iseler Singers, the Elora Festival Singers, and the Grand Philharmonic Choir.
Tenor Bud Roach has performed frequently with many of Canada’s finest ensembles. His recordings have been recognized internationally as ground-breaking achievements in historically informed performance practice.
Bass Geoffrey Sirett continues to impress musicians and audiences in debut performances in opera, concert and recital repertoire. Recent highlights include the Canadian Opera Company tour of Pergolesi’s La serva padrona and Burry’s The Brothers Grimm. As co-producer of The Bicycle Opera Project, Sirett is sought after for his interpretations of new Canadian works.

The very next day, on Dec. 20 at 2pm at St. George’s Anglican Church, singers of all ages and talents are invited for a rousing Messiah Sing-A-Long! Donations in lieu of tickets support the Children’s First Fund of Family and Children’s Services.
“It is exciting to partner with this well recognized choir to support children, youth and families in our community,” Daniel Moore, executive director of Family and Children’s Services, said in a press release.
