FERGUS – Moms and moms-to-be learned about planting a vegetable garden at the monthly Mom2Mom program at the Wellington Pregnancy Care Centre last week.
Kishan and Kshamaa from Evergreen Organic Farms in Guelph came to the community garden behind the pregnancy centre and Community Living building to explain the benefits of homegrown fruits and vegetables and how to take care of them.
Evergreen is an organic business that uses organic fertilizers and heirloom variety seeds. With many different cultural backgrounds, the participants had a lively discussion about their favourite fruits and vegetables.
The Centre is organizing morning outdoor activities this summer for moms and tots. Events are slated from 10am to noon on July 12 and Aug. 9 at the Wellington County Museum and Archives’ new playground. Mary VanderMarel will offer a sing-song. For more information call 519-362-4167.
