The Groves Hospital Volunteer Association (GHVA) recently announced its 2018 scholarship award winners.
This year six recipients each received $1,000 to assist in their post-secondary health related areas of study.
Awards are given annually by the GHVA, and to be eligible Scholarship recipients are required to be a resident of the Groves Memorial Community Hospital service area, and attend one of the participating schools and be accepted into a post secondary program in an undergraduate health field area of study.
Two recipients this year are GHVA volunteers with the GHVA – Catherine Butts is a volunteer in the HELP program and George DeBoer is a volunteer in the emergency department.
Recipients are as follows:
– Fiona Costello, a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School is attending Queens University, Bachelor of Health Science Honours
– Alyssa Osmond, a graduate of Centre Wellington District High School is attending Georgian College, Practical Nursing
– Maya Karmakar-Johnson, a graduate of Centre Wellington District High School is attending University of Waterloo, Honours Life Sciences
– Jadyn Janssen, a graduate of Centre Wellington DHS, is attending Pre-Health Sciences at Conestoga College
– George DeBoer, a graduate of Emmanuel Christian High School is attending Collaborative BScN at University of Western
– Catherine Butts, a graduate St James Catholic High School is attending Carleton University biomedical & Mechanical Engineering.
