Group hosts mental illness training seminar

Health Canada indicates one in 10 people suffer from anxiety disorders.

Often mental illness and depression are poorly understood and go undetected.  One of the ways that people can help those in need is to understand and support the people affected  in the community.

A group in Mapleton is planning a seminar on Feb. 20 at the Drayton Christian Reformed Church (88 Main Street East) to address some of these issues.

Rev. Dreise, a minister of pastoral care at the church and former executive director of Salem Christian Mental Health Association, will be speaking.  His focus will be to equip people to recognize the symptoms of mental health illnesses, and  he will give information on how to provide support.

The time of the seminar is 9am to 1pm and refreshments, as well as lunch, will be provided. There is no admission. For information, and to pre-register (by Feb. 15) contact  Teresa Dekker at countrybait@sonicwaves.ca  or 519-638-2542.

In the event of inclement weather the seminar will be held Feb. 27.
