Group gets cash for Aging at Home program

Traverse Independence, formerly known as Participation House – Waterloo Wellington, will receive one more year of funding for its Aging at Home (AAH) program starting on April 1.

The announcement came at the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network (WWLHIN) board of directors meeting last month in Kitchener.

It will provide one additional year for the seniors’ Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) adult day program known as Beginnings.

The most notable indicator of the program’s success was the statistics to support the reduction of caregiver stress and burnout as loved ones attended a safe, secure ABI adult day program.

Traverse Independence is a not-for-profit organization incorporated under its new name in December. The organization provides assisted living for adults with physical disabilities, as well as day programs, outreach services and transitional living in the Region of Waterloo and Wellington County.
