Mayor Dennis Lever noted the township received two aggregate tenders, one from CBM Aggregates, the other from Cox Construction.
Public works superintendent Don Creed recommended the contract be awarded to CBM for the crushing and application of 9,000 metric tonnes at $10.42 perm/tonne of granular A material at $93,730 and price off the crushing belt for 2,000 metric tonnes of $7.62 per m/tonne at $15,240.
HST is extra.
The over total is $109,020.
Lever estimated it is a $1,600 difference in the over price of the two bids.
Creed said he had considered the Cox price for off the belt, which is slightly lower than the CBM bid.
However based on the work for 2012, Creed said the majority of work is on the east side of the township.
Because of the additional transportation, “at the end of the day it would cost me money to save money.”
Council approved the CBM tender for maintenance gravel.
