Murray Taylor, of Grand Valley, was in Kitchener recently for the seniors’ Canadian lawn bowling championships.
Taylor captured the silver medal at the Ontario senior triples championship earlier this month along with teammates John Ferguson and John Wilson, both of the Barrie Lawn Bowling Club.
This will be Taylor’s second trip to the nationals. He won a Canadian bronze medal in 2004 in Edmonton.
Sixteen top seniors teams from across Ontario each earned the right to compete in the provincials on Aug. 4 and 5 by winning their respective districts.
In the silver medal game, Taylor and his teammates scored four points in the final end of play for an 11-10 victory over a team from the Woodstock area.
In addition to the silver medal, the team also received Ontario championship jackets and a berth at the ongoing national tournament in Kitchener.
