Grand Valley duck race set for May 26

Tickets for the 23rd annual Grand Valley Lions Duck Race on May 26 are now on sale.

There are 95 prizes totalling over $22,000 in cash prizes and gift certificates. And there are two $1,000 prizes donated by Grand Valley Wind Farms and Orica Canada.

The ducks, all 3,500, will be dropped at 2pm by Grand Valley Crane Rentals and the first 94 ducks into the Lions chute will win a prize.

The mayor of Grand Valley will be scooping out what he thinks is the last duck and the owner of that duck will win $100.

Ducks are $5 each and will be available in Grand Valley and Orangeville.

In addition to the duck race, the Grand Valley Lions start the day off with a community breakfast, a plant sale by the Grand Valley Horticultural Society and an Amazing Race hosted by the Grand Valley BIA.

At the duck race finishing line, starting at 12pm, there will be live entertainment, free face painting, free bouncy castles, free duck pond, children’s play area, pony rides and more.
