Show Your Support….End Cancer.
If it only took a bike ride and a weekend to end cancer, I know everyone would be there. I haven’t met a person that hasn’t had someone they know be affected by Cancer, and I haven’t met a person that doesn’t want to help find a cure.
This weekend (Juen 27) the 2nd annual Grand Valley BreastFest is taking place at the Grand Valley Arena. It is an amazing fundraising event.
The funds raised through the Grand Valley BreastFest will go toward the Campbell Family Institute at the Princess Margaret, one of Canada’s leading Cancer research centers.
Doors open at 6pm, with kids activities from 7pm — 9pm (games, face painting, kids penny auction). Music for the kids will be provided by two local pianists, Jessica Kampen & Jessica Pereira.
From 9pm to 1am., listen to the music or dance the night away. Dean Woods, Dave Holden, Jamie Matheson and Kevin Hinksman will be rocking the arena floor beginning at 9 p.m. At 10 p.m., Jason Soloduik will take centre stage and play his original music.
Powder will hit the stage at 11pm. with 60, 70 & 80s rock.
The Grand Valley Lions Club will be tending bar, and all proceeds will be donated back to the Weekend to End Breast Cancer.
A Silent Auction will round out the evening. From 7pm until 11:30pm, you will have the opportunity to bid on many generously donated items. There will also be 50/50 draws throughout the night, and a “Treasure Chest” draw for some amazing prizes. You won’t want to miss out on these exciting chances.
Advance tickets $15.00 and $20.00 at the door. Kids 10 and under are free. Tickets include a dinner meal.
This event follows The Ride to Conquer Cancer, a 200km bike ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls, which took place June 13 and 14. In order to participate each person had to raise $2,500.00 for the Princess Margaret Hospital.
You can also show your support in The Weekend to End Breast Cancer, a 60km walk through Toronto, taking place the September 12 and 13. Participants have to raise $2,000.00 to participate.
