ELORA – Grand River Raceway officials say racing will resume at the Elora track on June 14 – perhaps sooner if the province allows it.
In response to the recent Government of Ontario’s recent “Roadmap to Reopen” announcement, the raceway issued a press release on May 26 stating it will offer live standardbred racing during step one of the plan.
“Grand River Raceway expects to begin the live racing season spectator-free starting [June 14] but is prepared to accelerate the resumption sooner if the [province] enters step one earlier than expected,” states the release.
It adds that live racing will return on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with a post time of 6:30pm each evening.
Qualifying and schooling races are scheduled for June 2 and 9 at 10am. Starting June 16, for the remainder of the season qualifying and schooling races will be scheduled every Wednesday at 2pm.
“We at Grand River Raceway look forward to seeing the horses back out on the track very soon,” states the release.
