ELORA – In their final good deed of the school year, Grade 8 students at Elora Public School are holding a car wash in support of Team Addy, which in turn will give those proceeds and more to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.
“It’s a graduation tradition,” said Grade 8 student Gia Rai.
“It’s fun to do at the end of the year and the money will go to Team Addy,” added classmate Tia Meredith.
“(Addison Hill) was such an important part of our school and we want to honour her.”
Hill died from a rare form of sarcoma cancer last year at age 14 and her supporters, who call themselves Team Addy, have continued to raise funds for cancer research.
The car wash takes place June 27 from 9am to 3pm in the front drop-off bay in front of Elora Public School.
Graduating students will work in shifts as they man the wash and dry stations, the girls said.
The car wash is by donation.
