A ground-breaking ceremony was held at 680 Tower Street on July 29 to mark the start of the renovation of the old Fergus High School building.
Chair of the board of directors of the school society Andrew Westrik turned the soil and there was coffee and cake to celebrate.
The renovation and addition of a full size high school gymnasium will begin this week now that the Township of Centre Wellington has approved the heritage permit. The school also received permission to start the excavating work.
The project manager is Pete VanGrootheest from Sheldon Creek Developments in Orangeville.
