FERGUS – It’s no longer possible to see Gordon Lightfoot perform live, but the musicians who played with him are still going strong, and you can see them this weekend at the Fergus Grand Theatre.
The Lightfoot Band – Lightfoot’s original touring band – will take the stage in Fergus for a matinee show on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2pm.
The concert is billed as “an unforgettable performance that honours our Canadian icon and shares his amazing songs.”
“After the initial period of grieving, we decided . . . that we should continue on,” drummer Barry Keane stated in a news release. “We felt that it was our duty to continue to perform Gordon’s great songs, the way he wanted them performed.”
The band features Rick Haynes on bass, Keane on drums and percussion, Mike Heffernan on keyboards and Carter Lancaster on lead guitar, as well as new member Andy Mauck on rhythm guitar and vocals.
Fans can expect to hear their favourite classics as well as some deep cuts, and stories from the band for the “ultimate Gordon Lightfoot experience,” officials state.
