Golf United Tournament raises $34,000 to support Home For Good Campaign

GUELPH – More than 140 golfers joined United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin on July 3 for the 2nd annual Golf United tournament, presented by Herr Wealth Management.

Together, over $34,000 was raised to support the Home for Good capital campaign, which will see 72 supportive housing units built in Guelph to serve individuals who are experiencing chronic homelessness.

“The Home For Good campaign is well on its way to helping solve homelessness in our community,” said Les Herr, principal, Herr Wealth Management and presenting sponsor and co-chair of Golf United.

“This tournament provided us an opportunity to support an innovative solution to a complex problem and we’re happy to do our part.”

The sold-out tournament was held at Victoria Park East Golf Club in Puslinch and saw generous supporters come together for a day of golf, good food and fun, with the goal of raising much needed funds for the community.

“We are so close to providing 72 people with (supportive housing) and making huge strides in ending chronic homelessness in Guelph-Wellington,” said Glenna Banda, executive director of United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin.

The Home for Good Campaign is a bold call to action to solve homelessness in our community.

Through the generosity of individual donors, corporate supporters, and community organizations, $5 million will be raised to build Homes for Good for people experiencing homelessness in Guelph and Wellington.
