The County of Wellington OPP held an anniversary celebration at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex on May 31.
The event celebrated not only 100 years of policing for the OPP, but also 10 years as the police service for Wellington County.
The event started with opening ceremonies and a performance by the OPP precision motorcycle riding team, the Golden Helmets, putting on a show just south of Belsyde Avenue for over 300 people.
Afterwards there were numerous booths and displays set up inside the arena floor next door at the Sportsplex.
Displays included motorcycles, OPP Mounted Unit, Marine display, members of the provincial emergency response team on hand for a show, a rollover simulator, the OPP anniversary car, the OPP Command Centre as well as displays from other community partners.
The Commissioner’s Own Pipes and Drums, the Mounted Unit, Canine Unit, Negotiator Equipment, and more were included in the event.
