Gift shop raises $8,000 for Palmerston District Hospital

PALMERSTON – Several of the 30 Palmerston and District Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop volunteers got together on March 4 to present an $8,000 cheque to Palmerston and District Hospital Auxiliary president Helen McFadzean.

The donation represents the sale of merchandise from the gift shop located adjacent to the emergency room at the hospital.

All proceeds from the hospital gift shop go to the auxiliary, which in turn donates directly to the Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation to purchase needed equipment for the hospital.

The Palmerston and District Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday from 11am to 3pm.

Merchandise includes ladies clothing and accessories, home decor and giftware, sundries and donated handcrafted items. There is a book cart with novels for a looney each and a Keurig machine is available to purchase a coffee, tea or hot chocolate, with a small assortment of snacks too.

“One of our most popular items at the gift shop is its selection of Rheo Thompson chocolates,” officials state.

No HST, and payment by cash or debit is available.
