Gift of Home event supports Wyndham House efforts to end youth homelessness

GUELPH – Celebrating the holiday season will help give young people a safe place to live when the Gift of Home event returns on Nov. 30.

The holiday party event, back for a second year, invites community members to enjoy a fun-filled evening while raising money to support Wyndham House, an organization that provides supportive housing and related programs for youth.

“We’re excited to invite our community back for our second annual Gift of Home fundraiser,” stated Wyndham House executive director Kristen Cairney in a news release.

“We look forward to hosting another fun and memorable community event while reflecting on the importance of home for the youth in our community.

“With proceeds from the event, Wyndham House will continue to help create a solid foundation for our young people to move away from a difficult path and seek a stable future.”

The event runs on Nov. 30 from 8pm to midnight at the Guelph Youth Music Centre. It will include live music from Guelph’s Excuse Me and the Oscars, as well as a silent auction with items donated by local businesses. There will also be appetizers and cocktails available for purchase.

Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite or at the door for $35.

All proceeds will go directly toward providing housing, support and resources for homeless and vulnerable youth.

Through its permanent supportive housing model, Wyndham House is a leader in providing innovative support focusing on wellness, stability, and healthy development for youth, the release stated.

The organization is working to help Guelph be the first mid-sized community to end chronic youth homelessness in Canada by increasingly focusing on upstream and prevention efforts and focusing on a younger population.
