GUELPH – The annual “FHT to Move Activity Challenge” presented by the Guelph Family Health Team is back again and this fall’s theme is Jump into Fall.
This three-week activity challenge is a way for participants to improve their mental and physical health, especially during the last couple of years with the pandemic.
It’s a friendly competition with the intent of encouraging community members, local businesses, organizations, and groups to be more active and lead a healthier lifestyle.
A kickoff event is slated for Sept. 16 from 1:30 to 3pm at Riverside Park in Guelph. Register at www.eventbrite.ca/e/383096932237.
The activity challenge starts after the kick-off on Sept. 16 and runs until Oct. 7. Participants log their daily minutes of activity, which contribute to their team’s total score. Activity minutes are earned in a variety of ways – running, walking, stretching, meditating, weight lifting and more.
Bonus points can be earned by participating in separate daily challenges.
All participants are eligible for weekly draw prizes. At the end of the three weeks, there will be prizes awarded to first, second, and third-place teams as well as a team spirit award.
