HARRISTON – The Grey Wellington Theatre Guild (GWTG) is set to host a casting for its annual summer youth play and an information night for a major musical production slated for the fall.
Auditions for the guild’s annual youth production will be held May 7 at the Harriston Town Hall Theatre at 7pm. Auditions are open to young people aged 6 to 18 and rehearsals will begin in late May for a show to be staged July 26 to 28.
This will be the 12th year the guild has offered a summer program. This summer’s production, Steal the Rich, was written by GWTG member Megan Raftis, who will be co-directing the show with Peggy Raftis and Dan Bieman.
GWTG officials say the youth program introduces young people to the fun and magic of live theatre and the confidence-building skills that result from appearing on stage.
There is no charge to participate and admission for the performances has been kept to a family-friendly $5 per person. For information call 519-338-3681 or email gwtg@wightman.ca
Anne of Green Gables
A highlight of the Guild’s 50th anniversary this year will be musical production, Anne of Green Gables, set to run from Nov. 22 to Dec. 7.
Guild officials note the production will require a large cast ranging in age from youth to seniors. Previous stage experience is not a requirement. An information night for anyone interested in participating, either onstage or behind the scenes, will be held on May 9 at the Harriston Town Hall Theatre at 7pm.
Information will be provided on the audition process and the evening will also provide a chance to hear some of the music and an opportunity to ask questions about what is involved in putting on a production and to find out how easy it is to participate.
For further details on the information night email gwtg@wightman.ca or call 519-338-2778.
