GUELPH – High school music classes at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute (GCVI) are inviting the community to a concert in the high school’s auditorium on Jan. 20.
The guitar and vocals classes will be joined by other keen musicians from GCVI and Guelph’s Mayor Cam Guthrie. The performance will be led by music teacher Lane Osborne.
The musicians will play Fleetwood Mac’s album Rumours from start to finish.
The show starts at 7pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm. It should run about an hour long including a 15 minute intermission. Osborne states “This show encompasses all of our music students from our absolute beginners to our seasoned pros.”
She’s hopeful that “the newbies have a very appreciative audience to bolster their confidence and love of performing.”
The concert is “pay-what-you-can” and all proceeds will go to The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada.
Officials say they “continue this wonderful relationship with The Donkey Sanctuary thanks to two of their volunteers, Bob and Judy Taylor, who donated a Gibson Les Paul and Fender Telecaster to our music program.
Last year, the school’s music department performed The Beatles’ album Abbey Road and raised nearly $2000 for the Donkey Sanctuary.
“We’re hoping to beat that goal this year,” officials state.
