MOOREFIELD – Members of the Moorefield and District Horticultural Society (Mapleton Buds and Blooms) met with a good turnout on Sept. 28 at the Maryborough Community Centre.
Guest speaker Brenda Mitchell gave a presentation on the gardens of Scotland. Mitchell’s lifelong interest in plants developed when she was working in Toronto and able to take evening classes in botanical art. Then she met and married a Scottish resident and trips to Scotland allowed her to visit many gardens and learn about their rich history of plant study and a tradition of using landscape and climate for grand gardens.
District 7 director Kathy Bouma attended and a brief annual meeting was held. Board members who have already been serving during 2021 were officially elected.
At the next meeting on Oct. 26 at 7:30pm the group hopes to have Jean Anderson teach members about African violets and streptocarpus plants.
