The Clifford & District Horticultural Society hosted a garden tour following trails and pathways through local gardens and the lavender farm on July 16.
Tour guide Jean Yenssen led a group of 21 to the Flowers to Fragrance lavender farm east of Harriston to view the rows of lavender and shop in the store for a variety of health and wellness products.
Returning to Clifford, the group lingered at Elsie and Larry Grummett’s to see their gardens, then ventured across the road to see the blooms growing along the fence.
They were treated to a luncheon of salads and sandwiches at the home of Vic and Trish Palmer and a tour of their trees and gardens. Onward to Cindy and Mike Stevens, the group found an oasis hidden behind their home complete with a water feature and decorative statues.
A visit to Ethel and Don Weber’s home gave the group a chance to relax in the garden and enjoy a homemade cookie or two and a sip of lemonade before heading home.
June Ide took photos and posted them on the Society Facebook page. She also photographed the garden tour held on July 29 during the Ontario Horticultural Association 110th convention at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Kitchener. Business, vendors, special guest speakers, displays, and bus tours were all a part of the ‘Experience the Grand’ theme.
The next event for the society is the summer flower show on Aug. 23 at the community centre in Clifford.
