The Elora and Salem Horticultural Society’s 12th annual garden conference will be held here Feb. 8, from 9am to 3:30pm at the Legion Hall on Metcalfe Street.
Speakers include Belinda Gallagher, Master Gardener, an avid grower of rare, native, and more common perennial plants as well as vines, grasses, shrubs, trees and fungus.
She is gardening in the Zone 5a/5b area in Halton Hills. Gallagher can be seen weekly, during the gardening season, on the Weather Network.
Another speaker is Anna Leggatt, a nature interpreter at the Kortright Centre for Conservation. She lectures on various aspects of horticulture. She contributes articles to The Journal of the Toronto Botanical Garden), Toronto Life Gardening, and The Globe and Mail. She will speak on Japanese Gardening: A look at different kinds of Japanese gardens and how we can incorporate some elements into our own backyard.
Penny O’Donnell presents a landscape floral design, and an entertaining look at gardening through the magic of Elora Puppets presentation of The Selfish Giant.
