ABOYNE – With a Valentine’s theme of romantic reflections, love – yesterday, today and forever, the Cantabile Strings return to the Gallery Concert Series on Feb. 10 at 2pm at the Wellington County Museum.
The Cantabile String Quartet is made up of musicians from various area orchestras who enjoy exploring new repertoire together.
Quartet members include: Paul McNaughton and Jay Samuel, violin; Ron Dolynchuk, viola; and Murray Charters, cello
The program is varied with classical and popular music reflecting the romantic theme.
In the first half, Sarabande from 6th Cello Suite by J.S. Bach; String Quartet No. 15 in D Minor by Mozart; Adagio from String Quartet by Samuel Barber and Quartet No.3 by Dmitri Shostakovitch.
After a brief intermission during which the audience can more closely enjoy the puppet exhibit A Peek Behind The Curtain, the quartet returns with favourites such as Claire de Lune by Debussey; As Time Goes By; When I’m Sixty Four; Departure by Hisaishi; and Last Spring by Grieg.
Tickets are available at the door for $10.
The audience is invited to stay for refreshments and opportunities to speak with the artists.
