GUELPH – The Art Gallery of Guelph (AGG) has announced the call for submissions for the 2025 Middlebrook Prize for Young Canadian Curators.
Founded in 2012, the Middlebrook Prize is awarded annually to an emerging Canadian curator under 30, with the aim to foster social innovation and curatorial excellence in Canada.
Hosted and administered by AGG, the winner is selected by a jury of arts leaders and receives a $5,000 honorarium and mentorship in the development of an exhibition at AGG.
Submissions will be accepted until Jan. 31 at 5pm and the winner will be announced in March.
By supporting and mobilizing Canadian creative talent, the Middlebrook Prize aims to inspire positive social change in an era of ongoing and unprecedented economic, environmental, social and cultural challenges, officials said.
“The Middlebrook Prize has a powerful impact for not only the applicants, but the cultural sector more broadly,” stated AGG director Shauna McCabe.
“Supporting young professionals at a critical point in their careers, the winners are among the country’s best and brightest emerging curators with a clear sense of the transformative potential of the arts.”
Curated by 2024 Middlebrook Prize winner Dallas Fellini, the exhibition Some kind of we is on at AGG until Jan. 5.
