Following the success of previous sales, The Friends of Guelph Library will extend this year’s book sale to a full weekend, Oct. 24 and 25.
Proceeds of the first two book sales – over $20,000 – were invested in a future gift to the new main library.
The Friends of Guelph Library, a group of volunteers, are committed to supporting the library through advocacy and special programs. Community members are invited to donate gently used books and educational and entertainment items to the fall sale.
Until Aug. 31, donations of adult hardcover, paperback and children’s books, comic books, media items (LPs, CDs, VHS, DVDs) and complete puzzles and games may be dropped off by appointment (call 519-821-5874 or 519-836-0513).
From Sept. 1 to Oct. 16, donations will be accepted at any branch of the Guelph library.
While sorting and preparing donations, volunteers will assess each item for its suitability for sale.
Some items cannot be accepted: please no encyclopedias, textbooks, Harlequin Romance, Readers Digest, National Geographic, audiocassettes or magazines.)
Volunteers are required for the many tasks involved in the enterprise.
Assistance is needed now to sort and transport donations. Throughout September and October, additional volunteers will be needed to sort donated materials and distribute publicity materials.
Help is required to set up and staff the sale and to help with the post-sale cleanup. Volunteers can call 519-821-0747 for further details.
The Friends of the Guelph Public Library invite area residents to support the library by participating in this event.
