FERGUS – Fraberts Fresh Food has contributed $600 to both the Fergus Legion and the Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF).
“As a proud member of the Fergus Legion, I wanted to support them during this challenging year,” said Chef Derek Roberts, owner of Fraberts Fresh Food. “Due to the pandemic they are unable to host events and there have been many other challenges. We wanted to show some support to this institution that is so important to our community.”
In November, Fraberts pledged 20% of sales on Remembrance Day to the Legion. Branch president Randy Graham expressed his gratitude, stating the donation is “sincerely appreciated and needed”.
Thrilled by the volume of Christmas orders in December, Fraberts pledged $1 per order to the CWCF.
So many ‘struggling’
“We are pleased to be in a position to make this modest contribution to the CWCF’s CW Covid-19 Community Response Fund,” stated Jackie Fraser, owner.
“We know so many businesses, organizations, and individuals in our community are struggling. It was impossible to choose who to support. The CWCF is in a position to determine need and assist with this fund.”
In response to the unprecedented pandemic, the CWCF has created the Centre Wellington COVID-19 Community Response Fund. This fund is a rapid response fund, pooling community donations big or small.
“Responding to the urgent need to keep the most vulnerable in our community safe and healthy, we established this fund to enable rapid response granting to support the work of our front-line organizations and charities,” said CWCF chair Randall Howard.
“We are so fortunate to have been able to remain open throughout the pandemic,” added Fraser. “The community has been incredibly supportive. We are pleased to be in a position to give back in a modest way and will continue to do so in the future.”
Fraberts Fresh Food is a family owned fresh food market and catering company. The local store is open seven days a week in the Fergus Marketplace.
