Four bridges; one public open house on Dec. 2

CENTRE WELLINGTON –  The township and its consultant, R.J. Burnside and Associates, are holding a public open house to gain input on four bridges south-east of Fergus.

The open house is slated for Dec. 2 from 6 to 8pm at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

The bridges under discussion are:

– bridge 2-WG on 3rd Line in West Garafraxa, which has a 15-tonne load restriction; and

– bridges 7-E, 5-E and 3-E, located on 3rd line, 4th Line and 6th Line respectively in Eramosa. All three of these bridges are currently closed.

Since the first public open house in July, the project team has prepared a preliminary preferred alternative that will be shared at the open house.

“Comments received following the open house will be further considered by the project team and used to confirm the final preferred alternative,” states a notice about the meeting.

Those who attend can speak directly with the project team.

If you can’t make it, a temporary online forum will be open from Dec. 2 to 20 at connectcw.ca/bridge-transportation-network-study-four-bridges.

The fate of the bridges will then return to council for a final decision at a future date.
