The former Nichol township garage property has finally been sold.
The garage built by the former township was destroyed several years ago in a tornado and the lands were declared surplus.
The township attempted twice to sell the property but economic development manager Dave Rushton told council in committee of the whole on May 28 both times the sale fell through because the proposed land use was unsuitable.
The township asked for $250,0000 and the sale was advertised by flyer, Newspaper, a web site advertisement and a sign at the site on County Road 7, just north of Salem.
Rushton said the successful bidder will be creating a farm and home on the property. He said the owner will have some horses and operate a mobile farrier business from there.
Councillor Mary Lloyd asked if the funds will go to township building needs.
Rushton said the funds are designated for the township property fund.
He added the money can be used for expansion and the industrial park.
