Five Wellington youths vying for CNE Ambassador of the Fairs title

Canada’s next agricultural champion could be coming right out of Wellington County.

This year’s Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) will shine a spotlight on five county youths as they compete against 80 others from across Ontario in hopes of becoming the 2014 CNE Ambassador of the Fairs.

“For more than 40 years, this prestigious year-long title has taken the winner across the province as a representative of the CNE in order to promote, educate and inform the public on Canadian agriculture while bridging the gap between rural and urban communities,” CNE officials state.

The 2014 Ambassador of the Fairs Competition will take place from Aug. 15 to 17.

Wellington County contestants include: Arthur Fall Fair Ambassador Samantha Binkley, Erin Fall Fair ambassador Brittany Heller, Fergus Fair ambassador Krista Fraser, Palmerston Fair ambassador Jessica Schill and Harriston-Minto Fall Fair ambassador Shaylene Langille.
