Five Alarm rages at Guelph Little Theatre

GUELPH – Don’t call the fire department, instead race out to see Five Alarm, a Kristen Da Silva comedy that Guelph Little Theatre officials call “heart-warming and spicy.”

Simmering sauces, sharp instruments and bitter rivalry may come to a boil as Ava Rose (Natalia D’Abramo) tries again, after 16 failed attempts, to win the chili competition named after her father.

She has not discovered his “missing” secret ingredient and she must best her rival and ex best friend Connie (Katherine Schill) who has won for the last five years.

Additionally, Ava’s delightfully zany assistant Ellen (Liv Gray) who is more apt to maim herself than to find the answer, has no cooking experience whatsoever.

If it wasn’t for Connie’s warm-hearted “Cordon Blue” assistant chef Tucker (Christopher Sterling) developing a crush on Ellen, there might be more serious consequences around the cooking tables.

After all, Connie is an evil, no-holds-barred type of person who will stoop to anything to keep her ex friend Ava from actually winning.

But throw in a man from the past (Caleb played by Michael Anania), and the pots are sure to boil with steamy emotion.

Veteran director Steve Sherry, nicely reveals the various relationships between these five seasoned actors, officials say.

Five Alarm is produced by Pamela Niesiobedzki-Curtis and Jei Tiffin, and stage managed by Parth Vyas.

It runs April 11 to 28, at Guelph Little Theatre (176 Morris Street). Opening night tickets on April 11 are two for $25. Senior/youth regular tickets are $20 and adult are $25.
