WELLINGTON COUNTY – Katelynn Wynen is the 2019 recipient of the Luella Logan Scholarship Award.
Warden Kelly Linton announced the former John F. Ross student as the first recipient of the annual award at the Oct. 31 county council meeting.
The $1,500 Luella Logan Scholarship Award is presented to a female student from Wellington County, currently enrolled in a Canadian college or university, who is studying public administration or political science, or is in a related undergraduate program.
The award goes to those who have demonstrated excellent academic achievements, strong leadership skills and a keen interest in local government.
“On behalf of County Council I would like to congratulate Ms. Wynen on receiving the 2019 Luella Logan Scholarship,” said Linton. “Luella was an incredibly inspiring woman. I’m sure we will see great things from Ms. Wynen as well.”
The award is funded by a donation the County received from Robert Logan in recognition of his late wife, the first female councillor to sit on Wellington County council, Luella “Lou” Logan.
Wynen is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at the University of Toronto – Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
