Firefighters help after basements flooded near Eden Mills park

EDEN MILLS – Guelph-Eramosa firefighters were called out to assist with flooding that inundated Memorial Park and the basements of nearby homes on March 14.

Deputy Chief Jim Petrik said a blocked drain caused water to back up onto the parkland and into the basements of three or four homes.

Firefighters were on scene for over two hours. They pumped most of the water out of the basements and the park, running a long hose to dump it in the nearby Eramosa River. Township staff were called to deal with the drain blockage.
