If you happen to be stopped on the Metcalfe bridge here next month, it is all for a good cause.
On July 16, councillors here approved a bylaw to authorize a fund-raising activity in the form of soliciting by a toll booth on the Metcalfe Street Bridge in Elora, on Aug. 25, from 8:30am to 4pm by the Elora Fire Fighters on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
The County of Wellington roads committee and the Wellington County police services board also provided a letter supporting the operation of toll booths throughout the county, provided the terms of the amended Safe Street Act and the Highway Traffic Act are adhered to in all locations.
Last year’s tollbooth was held Aug. 27 without incident.
