Fire destroys unoccupied home

An empty house was destroyed in an early morning blaze in Guelph-Eramosa Township on Oct. 14.

Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department received a call just after 6am  for a “working house fire” at an unoccupied two-storey farm house on the 3rd Line.

Deputy fire chief Jim Petrik said it was “a fully-involved structure fire so we responded, identified that it was an unoccupied building that was in fact fully involved and we set up defensive firefighting position to protect exposures.”

The building, unoccupied for some time, was destroyed.

Trucks from the Guelph, Puslinch and Centre Wellington fire departments also responded to the call.

Petrik explained the cause is “undetermined.”
