Fibre art exhibit at Wellington County museum

Threadworks returns for its final year at Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) with this year’s theme, Flashback.

“Threadworks will showcase a range of interpretive works of the highest technical and artistic quality. The entries will interpret the Flashback theme as a tribute to this juried exhibit’s final showing after a three-decade partnership with the WCMA. Each artwork provokes a wide range of interpretations while exploring the theme and taking the viewer on a journey of discovery into the past,” said Susan Dunlop museum curator. “With over 200 works that may be submitted, only about 60 pieces are chosen by the jurors; Jane Dams, Dick Marvin and Lorraine Roy.”

Threadworks coordinator  Elizabeth Duggan Litch said “Since its inception in 1987, Threadworks has enjoyed opening at the WCMA. In the 1990s the show began to travel through Ontario to various galleries and museums. The committee, volunteers and artists are very grateful to the staff for their enthusiastic support over the decades.”

The opening reception will be held on April 17 from 1 to 4pm at the museum and archives on Wellington Road 18 between Fergus and Elora.

The exhibit will be on display from April 16 to May 29.  The galleries are open weekdays from 9:30am to 4:30pm and weekends from 1 to 5pm. Admission is by donation.
