PERTH-WELLINGTON – The Ontario government is providing over $605,000 to cultural organizations in Perth and Wellington counties, including Drayton Entertainment, Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece announced recently.
The funding is provided through Ontario’s Reconnect Festivals and Events Program, which is designed to support the festivals and events sector, while helping municipalities and organizations deliver innovative and safe experiences that allow people to reconnect with their communities.
“Tourism and culture are vital in our area,” Pettapiece said. “Advocating on their behalf has always been a priority of mine. That will continue.”
Investments in the riding include:
– Pazzo Pizzeria, Cafe Bouffon will receive $55,000 for its Here For Now 2021 New Works Festival;
– the Stratford Festival will receive $250,000 for its Raising the Tent: 2021 Outdoor Season;
– Stratford Summer Music will receive $26,307 for its event, Tour the Town with Stratford Summer Music ;
– Drayton Entertainment will receive $76,225 for its Digital Series ;
– The Stratford Tourism Alliance will receive $197,500 to go toward Lights On Stratford
The funding is part of a $50 million in spending across Ontario for 439 festivals and events, including the Celebrate Ontario Blockbuster Program (COBP).
COBP supports municipalities and organizations in Ontario by drawing significant tourist attendance and spending and raising Ontario’s tourist profile nationally and internationally.
“I am very pleased that our government recognizes the importance of the tourism and culture industry in Ontario,” Pettapiece stated.
“These investments will help revive and reconnect our communities.”
