Fans of the late Johnny Cash will be able to enjoy his musical legacy at the Drayton Festival Theatre in a tribute concert.
Friends of the Drayton Festival Theatre is presenting Cash: The Legend at the Drayton Festival Theatre on Nov. 24 at 2pm (8pm show is sold out).
“Johnny Cash was one of the great icons of country music,” said event organizer Ron Ellis. “His music influenced everyone from the man on the street to modern rock bands.”
Cash: The Legend is a five-person tribute and a musical journey of hillbilly-gospel-blues. Starting with his early success, I Walk The Line through his popular hit Boy Named Sue and including his latest chart smash, Hurt, Cash fans will be treated to unique touches such as period equipment and instruments that will transport them to the early days of his success.
Naturally, June Carter Cash’s influence is felt, as she was such a pivotal part of Cash’s world, personally and professionally. Jackson is known as the song that brought them together and is the launching point for later hits such as Will The Circle Be Unbroken. They also delight the audience with banter between songs.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. All proceeds from the concert will go directly to aid with beautification projects at the Drayton Festival Theatre. Call the box office at 519-638-5555.
