Festival begins with flashmob

Councillor Kirk McElwain is impressed with a new twist on the start of the 2013 Elora Festival.

In speaking on the opening of this year’s event, McElwain said opening night was a huge success again this year, as was the Leahy concert on July 13.

“But what I thought was a really nice addition this year was the flash mob on Saturday in the Greenspace (at the corner of Mill and Metcalfe Streets).

“It was an attempt by the Festival Singers to bring something to the community and I think it was very successful.”

McElwain said there was a huge crowd there by the end of the singing.
