The Township of Wellington North is pleased to announce our Festival along the Butter Tart Trail™ on Saturday, July 4 as a kick-off to this season’s Butter Tart Trail™.
The Festival will feature all day specials and events at all Butter Tart Trail™ merchants and throughout the Township of Wellington North including; Farm Tours, Artist Demos, Draws and Sampling. In addition, there are Community Yard Sales from 8am — Noon at both the Arthur & Area Community Centre and Mount Forest & District Sports Complex. Tables and spaces for the Community Yard Sales are free; though donations to the local food banks are appreciated. Spaces must be reserved in advance by calling the Township Offices at 519-848-3620. A Fundraising Breakfast will also be held at the Arthur & Area Community Centre beginning at 8:00 am and running until 11:00 am.
The Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Butter Tart Trail™ 2009 / 2010 Season will be held at the Mount Forest & District Sports Complex at 10:00 am by Mayor Mike Broomhead.
This year’s Baking Contest & Sale will be held at the Mount Forest & District Sports Complex and all Butter Tart Themed Items are eligible including Butter Tarts, Butter Tart Squares, Pies, Sundaes, Bites, Bars and more. Entries must be received by 11:00 am on Saturday July 4th, entry forms will be available when items are dropped off. Prizes are as follows: Best Butter Tart Non-Commercial $50.00, Best Butter Tart Commercial $50.00, Best Butter Tart Themed Item Non-Commercial $50.00 and Best Butter Tart Themed Item Commercial $50.00. Winners will also receive a Certificate and ‘bragging rights’. All are welcome to submit their best Butter Tart or Butter Tart Themed Item. A BBQ Lunch to benefit the Mount Forest & District Fundraising Committee will begin at Noon at the Mount Forest & District Sports Complex.
The Festival along the Butter Tart Trail™ will also feature Bus Tours this year with three pick-up locations; Arthur & Area Community Centre, the Township Office in Kenilworth, and the Mount Forest & District Sports Complex. Buses will leave the pick-up locations at 11:00 am from each location and visit 8 various Butter Tart Trail™ merchants along the way. Tickets are $15 per person, purchased in advance from the Township of Wellington North, 519-848-3620.
