Fergus to host International Fly Fishing Film Festival

FERGUS – The 2023 International Fly Fishing Film Festival is coming to Fergus on June 11 featuring 10 short and feature-length films.

The screening, at the Fergus Grand Theatre, will showcase fly fishing films capturing adventures from across the globe.

Centre Wellington a hub

As Centre Wellington is a hub for fly fishing, it should be of interest to many local anglers who enjoy what the Grand River has to offer.

The films begin at 1pm with the theater doors opening at 12:30pm.

The event is hosted by conservation organization Friends of the Grand River.

General admission to the event is $25; $50 includes a subscription to Fly Fusion Magazine.

Among the films in the festival are Crouching Tiger, Hidden Damsel, with oversized tiger trout, a prolific damsel fly hatch, and an obscure mountain lake.

In Of the Sea, brothers explore the elusive Banco Chinchorro off the coast of Xcalak.

Father Nature is about a guided trip on the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park.

Prizes to be won

Other films in the festival include A Slam that Saves, Dollar Dog, Jacks, The Focus, Chesapeake – A Love Letter to a Watershed, and Gold Fever.

Event attendees can win fly fishing-related prizes and awards from Film Festival sponsors.

One person will be selected winner of the 2023 Grand Prize valued at thousands of dollars of merchandise.
