On Jan. 23 the Fergus Pipe Band presents a traditional Robbie Burns supper at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275 Fergus.
The evening includes a buffet supper, an Address to a Haggis by John K. Campbell, Toast to the Lassies and to the Lads, music by Celtic fiddle/guitar duo McCairley and MacLean as well as a performance by the Fergus Pipe Band.
Robert Burns was an 18th century Scottish poet and lyricist who retains the designation of the “national poet of Scotland.” His birth is celebrated worldwide every year on or about Jan. 25.
Organizers state the most important thing about a Burns supper is to have fun.
“The man we are paying tribute to was not opposed to a wee party himself,” they say.
Now in its 89th year, the Fergus Pipe Band looks forward to welcoming friends, old and new, in a celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns.
