Fergus Lions host another successful home show

The Fergus Home and Leisure Show has marked another successful show.

Fergus Lions Club member Don Doyle, a member of the home show team quipped his job for the show often depends on the day of the week.

Doyle is a volunteer on numerous committees for the club – such as the bingo team, home show team, the Fergus Santa Claus parade, Lions representative for the Fergus Elora Senior transportation, and membership chairman.

In his free time, Doyle is a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society.

“We’re very pleased with the number of vendors we have,” said Doyle.

While he did not have an official number, he said there were about 160 vendors “which is very good for a small town show.”

Attendance for all three days of the event, May 8 to 10, was also good. He noted that thanks to the Toronto Maple Leafs, attendance seems to drop off in the middle of the second period.

“It’s been a tremendous show,” he added.

The Friday night fish fry, hosted by the Fergus Lioness Club sold about 350 meals.

Though unsure of the total food bank donations, Doyle said those at the booth seemed happy. “As always the community has been very generous in its donations,” Doyle said.
