FERGUS – The Fergus Legion is holding its inaugural motorcycle “show and shine” on Sept. 19 from 10am to 4pm, kicking off activities running from Sept. 19 to 25. Lunch will be available.
The week will feature different events including a member appreciation event and a veteran’s lunch.
The Fergus Legion has never run a motorcycle show before, but when a member mentioned a similar event held in Orangeville, the decision was made to try it here.
Anyone is welcome to come by with their motorcycle to the Legion’s 500 Blair Street location, where competitions will also be running with a $10 entry fee.
The contest classes: best cruiser, best chopper, best sportster, best ladies’ ride, best paint, best chrome and best trike.
Trophies will be awarded to best-in-class and the Legion hopes to coordinate with local businesses to arrange accompanying prizes. Branch president Randy Graham said organizers are hoping community support “will be strong,” adding motorcycle shows at other branches have had good turnout.
Graham has hopes of seeing at least 100 motorcycles, local and out-of-town, come out for the festivities. If the event does well, organizers are considering making it an annual tradition.
“I think it would be a great thing,” Graham said.
Any motorcycle enthusiasts interested in helping to plan or run the event can contact 226-384-9180, or email rsgdvm74@gmail.com.
Funds raised at the event will go to support the Legion’s operations.
