FERGUS – Well, spring is here and what marvelous weather we had in April.
The plants have just burst forth with growth.
With its plant sale coming up, Fergus and District Horticulural Society officials hope locals have had bit of time to see what needs dividing in their gardens and what they may want to donate to the sale.
Anyone who needs help digging and dividing plants can contact Michelle (cmichellegoff@hotmail.com) and she will arrange assistance.
The Best Bloom’n Plant sale will be on May 27 from 8 to 11am at the stone house beside the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
The potting up days will be May 15, May 19 and May 22, from 9am to noon and 1 to 3pm each of those days.
May 26 will be for setting out plants, pricing and getting ready for the sale the next day. Bring water and secateurs (pruning shears)and sunscreen.
“May 27 is sale day and we need members to help with tallying plants for buyers and helpers to assist with loading plants in cars,” officials say.
“At the upcoming May meeting we will have sign-up sheets available for members to indicate if you want to help out. This just helps us to see if we have enough people to do all the tasks.”
The society is looking for four volunteers to put out lawn signs throughout town and then pick them up at 11am the day of the sale.
Officials are also asking people to lend wheelbarrows for buyers to use on the day of the sale.
“We will have coffee and treats the day of the sale. Bring your own mugs,” stated officials.
All volunteers should arrive to the sale site between 7:30 and 7:45am and dress for the weather.
This is the only fundraiser the society holds and it helps with its community projects. Email Michelle Goff at cmichellegoff@hotmail.com with questions.
