FEDS host 3rd annual special needs soccer festival

Fergus-Elora District Soccer (FEDS) will be hosting their 3rd annual Special Needs Soccer Festival at Victoria Park here from 12 to 4pm on July 11.

The Festival is a yearly event where the local adult special needs community members host guests from around the area including Halton Hills and Kitchener-Waterloo.

At 12pm the Fergus Pipe Band will parade the athletes into the park.

From 12:20 to 2pm three sets of games in will be played. There are nine teams with three from Fergus, four from Kitchener-Waterloo and two teams from Halton Hills.

From 2 to 4pm there will be free face-painting, clowns, balloons,  a free photo booth, free prizes at the new sponsors and community tent. Burgers and hotdogs will be available for sale and they will be free for players.

There will also be live music from David Cavan Fraser.

The fire department will be at the park with their 1934 Antique Fire Truck and St. John’s Ambulance will be in attendance.

There will be trophies for participants and free cake for  everyone at the end of the festival.

The Special Needs Soccer Festival is a very unique event that was created by FEDS. It gives the adult special needs community the opportunity to play soccer, get exercise, interact with their peers, belong to a Sports club and socialize. This Festival is not only unique to the members and the community, it is also unique in Ontario as it is the only one of its type in the entire Province.

Come out for a fun day at the park and support the special needs community.
