The Farmers’ Market here is now open for its second season
Customers can speak directly with the grower or producer to learn about how their food is produced and where it is processed. That relationship provides direct feedback to the vendors on their products.
Farmers benefit from access to a variety of grants and support programs. Several of farms have received grants to for processing.
This spring market organizers helped connect farmers with the youth of Katimavik program which provided each participating farmer 13 days of help on the farm to get ready for another growing season.
The market made its first contribution this year, a donation of $2,500 to the new community park sign in Aberfoyle.
The project was headed by the Optimist Club of Puslinch. In early May, vendors provided prizes and local fare in support of the Kissing Bridge Trailway.
On June 16, vendors will contribute to Sunrise Therapeutic Centre’s gala.
Ticket and event details are available at www.afma.ca
The market is open each Saturday from 8am to 1pm until the end of October.
