Fall forum to have agricultural economy focus

Wellington County is making preparations to host the 2018 Municipal Agriculture Economic Development Forum.

The two-day event will take place on Oct. 3 to 4, economic development director Jana Burns stated in a written report presented at the April 24 Wellington County council meeting.

Day one of the event will involve a tour for participants across Wellington County to visit and learn about agriculture businesses and day two will bring everyone together at the Wellington County Museum and Archives for a program of speakers and panel discussions.

“As host we will work with OMAFRA and our member municipalities to plan and execute the event,” stated Burns in her report.

“Given our county’s diversity in the field of agriculture, we would like a program that connects agriculture with a variety of important subjects,” including agricultural research, planning, innovation, technology and tourism, she added.
