It will be an extra long weekend for Minto staff this coming holiday weekend – or more specifically for the administrative staff.
As a result, the Minto administrative offices will be closed June 30 and July 1 for Canada Day.
A report by Clerk Barb Wilson noted that Canada Day falls on Tuesday.
She wrote that the senior management team believes that July 1 should be observed by the town of Minto administration office and that the town office should not be closed on the Monday, and then open on Canada Day.
So the team suggested having the office closed both days.
The consensus of the administration staff was that they would be willing to use a vacation day for the June 30 closing and that full time staff would automatically get July 1 as a stat holiday.
Councillor Rick Hembly asked if the resolution affects all staff.
The answer was – no.
Wilson explained the resolution specifically affected administrative staff.
Works department staff will still be required to work, as will recreation staff if there are scheduled events at the facilities in the community.
The motion to close the office both days was carried – but not unanimously.
